OUR-ETHOS

Philosophy

“Each person living at Lakeview Rest Homes shall be afforded the space and respect which is their right. The opportunity to make choices in their every day life and to maintain their independence and self respect, as a valued member of society.”

The preservation of our residents self-respect and self-worth – particularly in relation to aspects of personal care – is fundamental to the care we provide. Our care teams are here to support you, assist you and encourage you to be the same person you’ve always been.

We firmly believe that life should be about more than simply existing. Life is for enjoying, and with that in mind, we worked hard to ensure that we created an environment where socialising, fulfillment, stimulation and relaxation were a way of life rather than a rare treat.

We are a family run care home and we value each person who comes to live with us as an individual. Every person who comes to live at The Moorings has their own life story, and we want to hear it and understand the individual better.

We want to know what your hopes, dreams and aspirations were (and are now as these things can change over time), so that we can plan for your care better. This person centered approach will help us to ensure that each resident will be treated with the care and respect they deserve.

We believe that no-one knows how to live your life and to plan your care better than you do. You are the boss. Each person who comes to live at The Moorings will be encouraged to play the biggest role in planning their care, so that we can work together to achieve the very best outcomes. Of course these principles apply themselves to more than care planning for example:

  • In our bistro you can choose from a variety of different meals cooked by our chef.
  • You choose when you want to wake up.
  • You choose if you want to go on an outing, socialise, visit the onsite cinema, pay a visit to the salon or listen to music on our baby grand piano.

Privacy is a fundamental right of each individual. We believe that every resident has a right to personal privacy, privacy of space and personal affairs. Confidentiality is practised and ensured at all times, both inside and outside of the home.

We believe that it’s your home, not ours. By communicating, giving time, offering choice and freedom, we believe residents become more truly themselves. This helps them to retain their individuality and lead more meaningful lives. We hold regular residents meetings, where residents (and their families/friends) are encouraged to come along and have a big say in how the home is run and how you live your life.

Each month, your plan of care will be reviewed with you and you will be enabled to have a major role in planning the care you receive and how that care will be delivered.

Our philosophy can be summarised as:

Everything we do at The Moorings revolves around achieving excellence. We aim to be the very best at everything we do, whether that be supporting our residents to live their lives the way they want to live them, providing choice, outstanding facilities and opportunities to socialise with friends old and new.

Each member of our team pledges to work with our residents towards all of these principles of care, guided by their key values:

  • Trust
  • Honesty
  • Respect
  • Passion
  • Understanding the true meaning of care
  • Aiming to be the best every day.
